About the program:

The College of Business Administration was established under the name of the College of Commerce in 1379 AH / 1959 AD as the first college in business administration at the level of the Kingdom, and since that time the College has taken upon itself the development of education at the level of the public sector and then the Department of Public Administration was established in 1979 AD, and it was one of the first departments in the Kingdom and graduated thousands of male and female students who today assume leading positions in various public and private organizations. The Governance and Public Policy Program is one of the important programs that has not been sufficiently addressed, as the number of academic and executive programs in these fields is few, despite the urgent need for holders of applied certificates in these fields to contribute to the management of local affairs and enhance the quality of government and public sector outputs. On the other hand, the private sector contributes significantly to the development in the Kingdom, which makes the development of this sector human in the areas of governance, building, analyzing, implementing and evaluating public and private policies an important element in comprehensive and sustainable development. The Department of Public Administration provides a governance and public policy program to enhance local development levels, and the department includes a number of professors with scientific and practical experience, which contributes to enhancing the program's outputs.

Qualifying local and regional leaders specialized in preparing and implementing the principles of governance in the public sector and analyzing public policies.

 

Program Mission:

Developing the capabilities and skills of administrative leaders in the public and private sectors and non-profit organizations by providing a scientific and practical applied environment.

 

Program Objectives:

Meet the growing needs of employees of government and non-government agencies in developing their capabilities, skills and knowledge, and to be informed of developments in the field of governance in the public sector and public policies, and to raise the efficiency, effectiveness and productivity of the public, private and non-profit sectors.

Provide participants with analytical skills for public and private policies that enable them to carry out their leadership roles and identify national priorities, issues and challenges and how to deal with them.

Enhancing the concept and elements of governance in the public sector among administrative leaders and their importance in achieving sustainable and comprehensive development.

Preparing a second row of administrative leaders in government agencies capable of analyzing, understanding and describing the administrative reality and ways to deal with it.

Enhance the orientation towards building an organizational culture based on teamwork, achievement, transparency, learning, effective communication and strategic thinking.

Enhancing awareness of the ethics of administrative leadership work and the applications of professional values through the development of administrative cases and documenting government work experiences.

Importance and justification for the development of the program:

Developing administrative leaders in the field of governance in the public sector and public policy analysis, using practical and scientific methods in policy analysis and problem solving.

Refine the skills of those enrolled in the program through the application of a flexible system of implementation to suit the working conditions of those wishing to develop their scientific and applied skills from different sectors.

Creating a link between King Saud University and the executive and strategic departments in the public, private and non-profit sectors.

The program's contribution to providing specialists and officials with the necessary skills to implement the initiatives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, and the implementation of governance models and frameworks in the public sector, in order to achieve the objectives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.

Familiarity with up-to-date knowledge and information in the field of governance in the public sector and public policies.

Admission Requirements:

In addition to the admission requirements contained in the unified regulations for graduate studies in Saudi universities and the organizational and executive rules and procedures for graduate studies at King Saud University, the department requires enrollment in the following program:

The applicant must have a bachelor's degree from a university recommended by the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in related disciplines such as (public administration, economics, accounting, political science, law, finance), with a grade of at least (good).

The applicant must have at least (one year) practical experience in government work or the private sector.

 

Study Dates:

During the evening throughout the week, as well as during the weekend on Friday and Saturday.

Cost per unit of study

(2400) riyals per unit of study.

 

Degree Requirements:

The student must pass (39) units of study from the master's courses.
