Human resources are vital to the overall success of any organization; no goals could be achieved without the human element, and hence the significance of the management of human resources. In the face of today’s challenges within the context of economic globalization and its implications for local economies, organizations need a highly efficient and effective labor force. In this regard, specialists in human resources undertake the huge responsibility of innovating methods and techniques for increasing productivity and achieving economic efficiency.
Now, human resources activities embody the material of a specialized academic discipline, characterized by professionalism. Those specialized in human resources possess a wide range of techniques that can maximize the benefits of an organization’s human resources. Human resources management has developed into a proper profession, with its own professional societies, code of ethics, periodicals, and research institutions concerned with the study of related issues. So important has human resources management become that organizations are now keen on recruiting highly qualified specialists in human resources. In response, related academic disciplines have been established at the university level for the preparation and qualification of needed specialists in human resources. Preparation involves studying theories of human resources and human behavior in organizations, as well as related systems and regulations. The CBA Human Resources Management, at King Saud University, reflects the importance of the role of human resources on the one hand, and meets the demand for highly qualified cadres by various administrative organizations on the other hand.
